Ideas For Your Next Staycation Near Dallas

There are ample things you can do during the summer on a simple and inexpensive day trip or staycation near Dallas. Staying close to home and skipping the overnight in a hotel doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy yourself and have a great time!

Sometimes it’s hard to plan, pack, board the pets or haul them along too, book the hotel rooms and schedule everyone’s vacation time just to get away for a few days. Many times it’s easier to get up early, get your walking shoes ready and just stay close to home, save money and sleep in your own bed after a long day of shopping, eating and entertainment. So what can you do in a day’s time if you live in the Dallas area? Here are a few things perfect for your next staycation near Dallas:

Visit The Texas Discovery Gardens

Texas Discovery Gardens  is best described as being a “7.5-acre organic garden featuring native and adapted plants.” There you’ll get to see what it’s like to visit a rainforest and they also feature a two-story butterfly house. You can also learn about the various snakes of Texas and visit their gift shop too. It’s open daily from 10 AM to 5 PM, with final admission being sold at 4:15 PM. So if you’re wanting to learn more about our beautiful Earth and it’s native plants, this is a fun and educational place to visit on a day trip.

The Dallas World Aquarium

If you’re looking to immerse yourself in nature, minus the heat, come out and discover what the Dallas World Aquarium has to offer. Get up close and personal and see their latest featured animals, including theBrown-Throated Three-Toed Sloth, the Orinoco Goose, and the Citron-Throated Toucan. The exhibits at the Dallas World Aquarium are quite the spectacle and will give you a front row seat to see some of Mother Nature’s animal kingdom.

They’re open daily from 9 AM to 5 PM so the next time you want to spend a day in the jungle and learn about our precious Earth and its creatures, this is the place to go, especially for your next staycation near Dallas.

Lunch and Shopping

And for a day of casual dining, shopping, fresh hot coffee or an ice-cold beverage, along with some looking around at Central Market, stop by the Shops of Southlake at East Southlake Boulevard in Southlake, Texas. Grab a bite to eat at Bonefish Grill or Coal Vines Pizza and Wine Bar and then go see that certain movie you’ve been wanting to see! But whatever you choose to do on your staycation near Dallas, be sure to have fun!
